Hole 13
Little Aston Golf Club, laid out in 1908 by Harry Vardon with bunkering added soon after by Harry Colt, has quietly produced some of English amateur golf's biggest names. Member John Beharrell won The Amateur Championship in 1956 and later became Captain of the R&A at St Andrews, while the club's own history credits Trevor Homer with winning the same title twice, in 1972 and 1974. Little Aston was also chosen by the R&A as an Open Championship regional qualifying venue between 2013 and 2017.
The 13th is a picturesque 176-yard par 3, played out from the trees to a long, well-guarded green. Into the wind it can play as tough as any short hole on the course — bunkers pinch both sides of a narrow entrance, and the wrong club leaves a long, awkward putt.
